This Privacy Policy describes how Building Ground (“we,” “our,” or “the site”) collects, uses, and protects information when you visit buildingground.ca. Building Ground is operated by Redjino Mompremier from Ontario, Canada, and is subject to the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

1. What information we collect

We collect two categories of information:

• Email address — collected voluntarily when you subscribe to the Letters from Building Ground newsletter. Subscription requires your explicit consent.
• Anonymous usage data — collected automatically via Google Analytics 4 when you visit this site. This includes pages viewed, approximate location (country/region), device type, browser, and how you arrived at the site. This data is aggregated and does not identify you personally. See Section 6 for details on cookies and how to opt out.

We do not collect names, phone numbers, payment information, or any other personal information on this site.

2. How we use your information

Your email address is used solely to send you the Letters from Building Ground newsletter: occasional letters with reflections on the work, behind-the-scenes thinking, and notes that do not fit in a video. We will not use your email for advertising, partnerships, or any purpose other than the newsletter you subscribed to.

Anonymous usage data from Google Analytics 4 is used to understand how visitors use the site, which pages are visited, and where traffic originates. This helps us improve the site over time. The data is not used to identify, profile, or target individual visitors.

3. How your information is stored

Newsletter email addresses are stored and managed by MailerLite (MailerLite Limited, 38 Mount Street Upper, Dublin 2, Ireland), our email service provider. MailerLite processes data in accordance with GDPR and applicable privacy laws. Their privacy policy is available at mailerlite.com/legal/privacy-policy.

Anonymous usage data is collected and stored by Google Analytics 4, a service provided by Google LLC. Google’s privacy policy is available at policies.google.com/privacy. Data is retained for 14 months under our Analytics configuration.

We do not maintain a separate local database of subscriber email addresses or visitor data.

4. Who has access to your information

Only Redjino Mompremier (the site operator) has access to the subscriber list in MailerLite and the Analytics reports in Google Analytics 4. We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal information with third parties, except as required by law or as described in this policy.

5. How long we keep your information

Your email address is retained for as long as you remain subscribed to the newsletter. When you unsubscribe, your email address is removed from the active subscriber list. You may request complete deletion of your record at any time (see Section 7 below).

Analytics data is retained for 14 months, after which it is automatically deleted from Google Analytics.

6. Cookies and analytics

This site uses Google Analytics 4 (via Google Site Kit) to measure anonymous traffic and usage patterns. GA4 sets analytics cookies to distinguish visits and track usage in aggregate. No advertising cookies are used on this site.

You may opt out of Google Analytics tracking in two ways:

• Install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on provided by Google.
• Use your browser’s private/incognito mode or a browser that blocks analytics scripts by default.

WordPress and the hosting provider (Hostinger) may also set functional cookies required for site operation. These are not used for tracking or advertising purposes.

7. Your rights under PIPEDA

Under PIPEDA, you have the right to:

• Know what personal information we hold about you
• Request access to your personal information
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your personal information
• Withdraw consent at any time (by unsubscribing from the newsletter)
• Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada

This site contains links to YouTube, LinkedIn, Facebook, and other external platforms. These links open in a new tab. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or privacy practices of any linked external site. Please review their respective privacy policies.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
